In response to the urgent needs of vulnerable migrant families, RPUMC is uniting with other community members and organizations to launch a fundraising initiative aimed at offering critical housing assistance. This effort seeks to address the immediate shelter requirements of these families, ensuring they have access to safe, secure, and suitable living conditions. This collective action underscores the community's commitment to supporting those in dire need, reflecting a shared value of compassion and solidarity.
Our fundraising goal for this initiative is to raise $200,000 by June 30, 2024.
We recognize that this fundraiser, while significant, may not fulfill all the needs of migrant families. Our goal is to take meaningful, targeted action to assist those in urgent need within our community.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will directly impact the lives of those facing housing insecurity. Together, we can provide a safe haven for families in crisis.
This fundraiser is a community-driven effort by individuals and organizations dedicated to addressing the immediate needs of vulnerable migrant populations.
While the state of Washington Legislature has allocated millions of dollars during the recent Washington State session, for which we are deeply grateful, these funds are not anticipated to be available until after July 1, 2024. Due to necessary government processes, Request for Proposal (RFP) procedures, and potential delays, these funds may not be accessible for distribution until September 2024 or later.
Community members are coming together to raise funds to provide essential housing support for vulnerable migrant families in immediate need of emergency housing assistance.
We strongly believe that everyone deserves access to stable housing and that housing is a fundamental human right. All raised dollars from this fundraiser will be allocated to housing expenses in the form of hotel vouchers. The distribution of these emergency dollars will prioritize migrant families facing acute challenges, including but not limited to individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, families with young children, and those with other urgent needs. This targeted approach ensures that the funds have the greatest impact on those facing the most pressing housing insecurities within our community.
